Smartphone Batteries Finally Get a Major Upgrade for Consumers
Battery life continues to be a challenge for consumers in the smartphone industry, even with newer, higher-capacity, high-density phones. However, it appears that smartphone batteries are about to receive a major upgrade.
According to supply chain reports cited by Phone Arena, the current state of dense silicon batteries isn't the limit. If companies act wisely, 7,000 mAh batteries will become more common by the end of this year, and these batteries will gradually increase from next year onward.
The current limitations of silicon batteries are forcing research teams to experiment with new materials and shapes, which will enable phones to be equipped with batteries larger than 8,000 mAh.
Using new steel shapes and casings (for structural support), a typical consumer smartphone will be equipped with a 10,000 mAh battery. Silicon batteries appear to have made significant progress in battery capacity, and now all that remains is for Apple and Google to adopt these new batteries in their flagship phones.
