Anthropic Plans to Make Its Mythos Model Available to European Banks Soon
Three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that Anthropic plans to make its artificial intelligence model, Mythos, available to European banks soon, as global banks rush to test the technology after granting initial access to major US banks.
Cybersecurity experts view Mythos as posing significant challenges to the banking sector and its legacy systems, prompting regulators and policymakers gathered at the International Monetary Fund's spring meeting last week in Washington to issue a series of warnings.
Anthropic has so far granted access to Mythos to a select group of US banks, while the rest of the banking industry is scrambling to catch up.
One of the sources said that Anthropic aims to expand access to Mythos to include European and British banks, as well as other institutions.
The source added that this process includes due diligence to ensure the deployment is carried out securely.
Another source said access to the model could be available to European banks within days, while the first source indicated that the rollout could take days or weeks.
Bloomberg had previously reported that Anthropic would soon launch its Mythos system for UK financial institutions.
Anthropic initially granted access to the model to its partners in the Glasswing project initiative, as well as to approximately 40 other institutions involved in building or maintaining critical software infrastructure.
JPMorgan Chase, part of Glasswing, is the only bank that Anthropic has publicly disclosed has access to Mythos, although Bank of America has been part of Glasswing from the beginning and is conducting internal tests of the Mythos technology, according to a source familiar with the matter.
More recently, other US banks have announced access to Mythos, as regulators accelerate their review of the cybersecurity risks posed by the new AI model.
On Tuesday, German central bank president Joachim Nagel called for all institutions to have access to Anthropic's "Mythos" artificial intelligence model to maintain a level playing field and avoid its misuse.
