Apple's new Vision Pro glasses won't arrive for at least two years.
Apple hasn't completely abandoned Vision Pro, but anyone hoping for a replacement will have to wait at least another two years, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman dismissed speculation that Apple has abandoned the headset entirely. The well-informed journalist says the company is secretly continuing to develop new technologies and materials with the goal of eventually producing a cheaper, lighter, closed-back headset. However, no such product appears to be in development at the moment, and the long-awaited Vision Air project was canceled last year.

If a new Vision Pro-style device does emerge, Gurman says he doesn't expect it for "at least two years," given that most of Apple's mixed reality experts have been redirected to other projects, such as lightweight smart glasses.
In fact, attention is currently focused on Apple’s smart glasses project. Former members of the Vision product team have been reassigned to this team, along with support for the development of the Siri chatbot, as well as other AI-enabled wearable devices such as AirPods with cameras and a planned AI necklace.
The New York Times recently covered the troubled launch of the Vision Pro in stores extensively in a book by Noam Schieber, a business correspondent, who argues that Apple’s decade-long workforce reduction in retail directly contributed to the disappointing launch of the $3,499 glasses. Apple updated the Vision Pro in October 2025 with a revamped model featuring the M5 chip.
